Paris Motor Show 2014: Ford unveils revised C-MAX and Grand C-MAX

Ford has updated its C-MAX and Grand C-MAX models, with revised exterior styling, new technology and improved economy. The updated car premiered at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and is due in showrooms from early 2015. It should cost the same as the outgoing car – from around £17,500.

Both the C-MAX and Grand C-MAX get smoother exterior lines, thanks to a revised grille, new headlights and new tail lights, bringing the design in line with that of the newly updated Focus. The interior gets the same treatment as the Focus, too, with a new, more user-friendly Sync 2 infotainment system and a simpler, less cluttered centre stack.

There are new storage areas for small items, cups and bottles. There’s also a USB port for charging devices like phones or navigation units. Thicker glass and improved door seals have been introduced to reduce noise, plus there is a new dual-mass flywheel to make driving smoother.

Under the bonnet, Ford has introduced a tweaked engine range. Emissions are lower across the board thanks to stop/start, while the 1.6-litre TDCi has been replaced by a 1.5-litre diesel, giving 5PS more power.  There are also 1.0-litre EcoBoost options with 100PS or 125PS, plus a revised 2.0-litre TDCi which Ford expects to deliver a 20 per cent improvement in CO2.

Ford has also improved the technology offered in the C-MAX, with an automatic parking system that will help you get in or out of parallel or perpendicular spaces, plus various other safety warning systems, adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking.
