Geneva Motor Show 2017: Jaguar i-Pace makes European debut
Jaguar's first electric car - the i-Pace - has made its European debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. While it is officially a concept, a production model - rumoured to cost £55,000 - is expected in 2018 and will likely look very similar to the show car.
The coupe-style SUV is similar in size and style to the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe and is powered by twin electric motors. Peak power is 400PS, with 700Nm of torque and a maximum range of 310 miles on a full charge. A full charge from a rapid charger takes around two hours.
Inside there is a 12-inch touchscreen system, a head-up display and plenty of storage space, since there is no gear selector occupying room in the centre console. The boot has a capacity of 530 litres, too - so there's plenty of cargo carrying capacity.
The instruments are digital - a la Audi Virtual Cockpit - and the rest of the controls are minimalist and discreet, including a rotary gear selector. The upholstery is finished in Alcantara and features little Jaguar pawprints, while the dashboard has natural wood inlays.
The show car for Geneva comes in red - but the i-Pace was initially revealed at the LA auto show, where it was painted in silver.
