Geneva Motor Show 2015: More efficient Range Rover Evoque appears

A revised, more efficient Range Rover Evoque has made an appearance at the Geneva Motor Show. The updated model gets very minor styling updates, plus improvements of up to 18 per cent to fuel economy.

Externally the tweaks aren’t obvious at a glance, but there is a new full-LED design for the headlights, a new front bumper, two new grille designs and a choice of three new alloy wheels designs.

Under the bonnet the Evoque benefits from the new Ingenium diesel engine, also set to appear in the new Jaguar XE and Land Rover Discovery Sport. This has a peak power output of 150PS or 180PS, yet has official economy of up to 68.9mpg and emits just 109g/km.

The 240PS Si4 petrol engine is still available, though its economy of 36mpg and emissions of 181g/km look poor next to the new diesel engine.

The cabin has been lightly redesigned with a tweaked instrument binnacle and door trim. There is also a new touchscreen system called InControl, which allows users to control various smartphone apps on-screen as well as the usual array of intotainment features.

New safety and convenience features include a lane assist function, collision mitigating braking and an electronically operated automatic tailgate, operated handsfree by waving a foot under the rear bumper.

Prices are to be announced but don’t expect much difference from the outgoing Evoque, which is available from just under £30,000.
