Geneva Motor Show 2014: Skoda Octavia Scout adds off-road ability

The Skoda Octavia Scout was unveiled at Geneva and it's designed to be more capable off-road than its predecessor. The more rugged third-generation version of the jacked-up Octavia Estate uses the latest Haldex all-wheel drive system. 

The Octavia Scout has 33mm more ground clearance than the regular Octavia Estate and features black plastic bumper mouldings and side trims. The specifications and engine line-ups haven’t been formally announced just yet, but there’ll be a more limited range of engines – two diesel and three petrol.

Standard gear includes 17-inch alloy wheels and a multi-function steering wheel, along with the usual array of standard Octavia gear, like climate control, hill start assist and a touch-screen system, along with iPod connectivity and DAB radio. 

Prices are yet to be announced, but expect a premium of more than £1000 over a standard Octavia Estate. It will go on sale this summer.
