Mitsubishi e-compact concept hints at new Colt
4 March 2011
Mitsubishi took the wraps of its e-compact concept car the Geneva Motor Show, which will eventually become the replacement for the Colt. It's designed as a global car that will be sold across the world with a focus on markets like China. A production ready version will be unveiled towards the end of 2011 and production will start in 2012.
The small hatchback has a lightweight design, helping efficiency while Mitsubishi promises easy manoeuvrability, excellent visibility and plenty of room for five adults to travel in comfort along with their luggage.
It's powered by all-new 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre MIVEC petrol engines that use brake energy regeneration and an engine stop/start system to maximise fuel economy and lower emissions. It's also likely there will be an electric version, using technology learnt from the Mitsubishi i-MIEV electric car.
