Jeep to debut 6.4-litre V8 Grand Cherokee

Frankfurt Banner

Frankfurt Motor Show will see the debut of the monstrous 6.4-litre HEMI V8 powered Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.

The beefed up styling isn’t superficial – the SRT8 develops 470bhp and 630Nm of torque, making it the most powerful Jeep ever produced. It’s lower, stiffer and features a new Selec-Trac technology to optimise road handling. Efficiency has been improved over older SRT8 models, but don’t expect it to be frugal.

When it goes on sale in early 2012 it’ll be available in one specification level, with on-demand four wheel drive, sat nav, dual-pane sunroof, adaptive cruise control, 20-inch wheels, blind spot monitor and high performance brakes amongst the standard equipment, as well as paddle-shift gears and leather upholstery.
