...but Alfa Romeo owners are the least happy
It’s inevitable that with any results table there has to be one that’s performed less well than all the others and for the 2025 Honest John Satisfaction Index it’s Alfa Romeo that’s picked up the wooden spoon with its 72.12% rating.
That’s only slightly inferior to Fiat, a brand with which many mechanical and electronic parts are shared courtesy of being part of the Stellantis car manufacturing group - Fiat scored 73.58%. At 76.11% is Vauxhall, but the British brand was only a solitary step above Fiat in this table. It is also part of the Stellantis group.
Just above that threesome on 77.29% is MG, something the brand will be hoping improves as more people experience its newer, higher quality models.
More worrying for Stellantis is that immediately above MG are two more of its brands — Jeep with a score of 77.40% and Peugeot with a rating of 78.64%.
Lexus most reliable brand for fifth year running
It’s another consecutive win for Lexus after being named as the best car brand for reliability in the 2025 Honest John Satisfaction Index with a reader rating of 97.01%.
Second place in the reliability rankings went the way of Tesla with an impressive score of 95.29% while Toyota - owners of the Lexus brand - cemented third place with a rating of 94.65%. With a score from our readers of 94.65% is Honda, with Skoda completing the best five with 93.08%.
Rank | Manufacturer | Reliability Rating |
1 | Lexus | 97.01% |
2 | Tesla | 95.29% |
3 | Toyota | 94.65% |
4 | Honda | 94.31% |
5 | Skoda | 93.08% |
For the enormous Stellantis group of car brands the reliability rankings make for hard reading as three of its marques fill the lowest trio of positions in the 2025 Honest John Satisfaction Index. Alfa Romeo is at the foot of the table (76.67%) just ahead of Jeep (82.31%) and Vauxhall (84.53%).
Many will be shocked to discover our readers have voted Mercedes as the fifth worst brand for reliability on 86.03% - a huge disappointment given the price premium its models carry over rivals that it seems are far less troublesome.
