Honest John Satisfaction Index 2021: Highest rated SUVs and crossovers
With so many SUVs and crossovers on the market it can be baffling deciding which one to buy. To help you narrow your list down, here are the top 10 SUVs and crossovers, as rated by more than 5,000 owners in the Honest John Satisfaction Index 2021.
Volkswagen T-Roc
Satisfaction rating: 93.7%
The Volkswagen T-Roc has beaten some tough competition to become the highest rated car in the SUVs and crossovers category of this year's Satisfaction Index, with a satisfaction rating on 93.7 per cent. It scored highly in lots of areas (reliability, ease of use and safety) but excelled for ride comfort, topping that category too.
Mazda CX-5
Satisfaction rating: 93%
The Mazda CX-5 has both style and substance, with an impressive rating of 93 per cent in this year's Satisfaction Index. That score would actually have been enough to top last year's SUVs and crossovers category and sees the CX-5 climb from sixth place. Owers rate it particularly highly for reliability, ride comfort and practicality.
Skoda Kodiaq
Satisfaction rating: 92.5%
Last year's highest rated car in the SUV and crossover category is still hugely popular and has actually slightly upped its 2020 rating of 92 per cent. It ticks a lot boxes as a family vehicle, and owners rate it highly for comfort and practicality in this year's Satisfaction Index.
Honda CR-V
Satisfaction rating: 92.5%
The previous generation Honda CR-V made it into the top 10 SUVs and crossovers in last year's Honest John Satisfaction Index, with a satisfaction score of 89.6 per cent and the latest model is proving even more popular with a satisfaction rating of 92.5 per cent. The Skoda Kodiaq beat it to third spot by the narrowest of margins. The CR-V scores particularly well for comfort and practicality, while Honda itself, is rated one of the most reliable car brands.
Volkswagen Tiguan
Satisfaction rating: 92.2%
The Tiguan is the second Volkswagen to feature in the top five SUVs and crossovers in this year's Honest John Satisfaction Index, with the smaller T-Roc claiming the top spot. We think the Tiguan is a high quality crossover and owners clearly agree, rating it highly for practicality and reliability.
Kia Niro
Satisfaction rating: 90.4%
The Kia Niro continues to be on the of the highest rated crossovers. It achieved some solid scores across the board in this year's Satisfaction Index, with owners particularly rating its ride comfort.
Lexus NX (2014-2021)
Satisfaction rating: 90.3%
The previous generation Lexus NX is still proving a strong performer with a satisfaction rating of 90.3 per cent in this year's Satisfaction Index. Reliability is its strong suit - it was named one of the most reliable cars, while Lexus was the highest rated car brand for reliability. Owners also praise its ride comfort and find it easy to drive.
Volvo XC40
Satisfaction rating: 90.2%
We're big fans of the Volvo XC40 and owners are impressed too, with a satisfaction rating of 90.2 per cent in this year's Honest John Satisfaction Index. Owners say it's easy to drive and praise its performance and, of course, its safety.
Kia Sportage (2016-2021)
Satisfaction rating: 89.5%
The Kia Sportage continues to be a popular alternative to the Nissan Qashqai. There is a new Sportage on the way next year but the outgoing model is proving comfortable and reliable for current owners, with Kia in general rated as a dependable brand in this year's Honest John Satisfaction Index.
Toyota RAV4
Satisfaction rating: 89.4%
As one of the most reliable car brands it's no surprise to see a Toyota make it into this year's list of the best SUVs and crossovers. If you're looking for a robust family SUV with lots of room, the Toyota RAV4 is a strong choice.
