Last Tuesday 19th Feb I bought a 10yr old Nissan Terrano from a garage - 70,000 miles, one owner, FSH, £4,000.

I drove it 80 miles home and parked it on the driveway where it stayed until Thursday. Within 30 mins of driving it again, it had stopped 5 times before I managed to get it to my garage.

Diagnosis was a problem with the fuel pump which may or may not be mechanical. The warranty is up to £1000 over 12mths but doesn't cover mechanical.

The proposed bill - is up to £1300. To me it sounds alot but I've used the same garage for many years and they've always been very fair, so I have to trust them.

I have two questions:-

1) I've not even owned the car for 7 days yet, so is the garage legally bound to refund my £4000 ?

2) The car is currently 80 miles away from the seller's garage. Who is responsible for footing the bill to return the vehicle ?
