With your comprehensive policy, did you have Legal Cover for disputes and recovery of uninsured losses? If so, now is the time to use it.
If not, can you get to talk to someone more senior than a call centre operative at the insurance company? Or even take your case to the insurance ombudsman?
No doubt there is some clause in the small print about the option they have not to repair under certain circumstances, but on the face of it, they do appear NOT to be providing a comprehensive policy. Unfair contract terms??
