Last time it snowed heavily, I watched a little old lady in a Skoda Fabia drive like that Audi. She had half a foot of snow on her roof and a small peephole scraped on the windscreen.

It's part of the Highway Code isn't it? You are required to scrape properly by law....!

Sure there was an article on the TV a couple of years ago that said it was the law that you must clear all loose snow off before you drive but if true how would that work. Followed a HGV this morning, it was like a blizzard coming off the top. How would you clear 6" of snow off one of those.

But I guess the problem with driving with snow on the roof is it could slide forward over the screen when you brake. And that could be a problem.

Has anyone ever been prosecuted?

Followed a HGV this morning, it was like a blizzard coming off the top. How would you clear 6" of snow off one of those.

I noticed either in Germany or Austria recently a facility for doing just that in an HGV parking area, but hardly worth their construction in the UK!

A couple of years ago when we had the really cold Christmas I experienced a sheet of ice flying off an HGV trailer, thankfully I had left a good gap. Imagine a sheet of 8x4 plywood being thrown off an HGV doing 56 mph.
