Hyundai ix20 Style - Hyundai ix20 ISG not working - madsen

Registered Jan 2011 and ISG has worked only 3 to 4 times over this period, Been back to the Hyundai dealer numerous times without any success. They do not seem to have an answer but put it down to the fact that the "state of health" of the battery falls below 94% which is the requirement for the ISG to work. As I have only done 10,600 miles in 2 years they are putting the blame down to me regardless of the fact that even after they fully charged a new bigger battery it only worked twice. I would like to hear from anyone who has or had the same problem and would like any advice on what my course of actions should be.

Regards Madsen

ISG, Stop/Start, call it what you want is a total waste of time. There are many parameters that have to be met including battery voltage, outside temp, A/C setting, fan setting etc etc.

On our BMW it rarely works this time of year and when it dos it only does it a couple of times.

But relax, the fule you save by having it working is negligable, the only purpose it serves is to allow the manufacturer to get a lower CO rating for that model.

We have 2 Volvo V50 1.6 diesels in the office, identical cras except only one has stop/start. One has a CO rating of 104, the other 114 yet both do virtually the same mpg in similar use.

Waste of time and effort, stop worrying about it.

Agreed. My system works most effectively when it is above 10 degrees, aircon is off, it isn't dark or raining! With these parameters it activates within a couple of miles. Outisde of this perfect scenario it can take over 10 miles.

At 5,000 miles a year of the OP I wouldn't expect to see it working very often and it wouldn't make any difference anyway.
