Hi all

I have 2000 model Xantia 2.0hdi 90bhp with AirCon, when I put the boot down to go up through the gears the engine gives a wavy sound to it as if she is not firing on all cylinders or not getting diesel. pulled out the fuel pressure regulator at the weekend and blew it out with a air hose, all was clean there. plugged the computer in and one injector was injecting too much fuel, got that one changed and still happening.

I also have a red stop light with temp light coming on only when cab blower is on with front windscreen setting, once I change to the feet or face setting it stops, lots say its the fan motor gone,

any advise on both thanks N.P

Does the power delivery feel uneven?

Is there visible smoke when accelarating?

I'd be making tracks to a specialist or Cit dealer.

Does the setting of the aircon button in the dash have any effect on the temp/STOP symptom.

On my late 2000 Hdi/110 model selecting screen causes the aircon to run irrespective of whether the dash button is pressed. It's done it from new and I'm assured it's a product of 'continuos inprovement'.

When you say fan motor gone do you mean the cabin fan or the radiator fan.

Aircon brings the radiator blower fans on and I'm wondering if either there's some link between them not working correctly and the temp light or (probably more likely) there's a corroded connector somewhere and current is leaking to earth via the temp sensor on the rad.

not sure about 1st question, but power is slow getting going when you put the boot down and its there when the high rev's are up. i noticed one day when I had to drive it on that the wavy engine sound was more noticeable, driving it like a sunday driver and its not as bad.

Yes to Q2, I was sitting statonary in the driveway and put the accelator to the floor, a lot of black smoke came out and there's a nice black mark on the ground too. On a cold start she's spluttering for a minute and then runs ok after the suspension rises, Point to note: on starting the car it sinks to the ground immediately, not like it use too when it was newer by settling itself when parked, is this a hydraulic issue, bear in mind that there is 219,000 miles on the clock,

Yes stop light comes on when air con button is activated, air con is no good when your stuck in traffic, works better travelling at speed, My Xantia seems to be the same so when screen setting is set by turning on the air con, but only one rad fan comes on, if I go out and turn the other manually it will run, but I already changed this motor twice, so is it something electrical not putting the fan on(right rad fan) as you said in your last point.

On the 'wavy' thing check carefully all the induction circuit's plumbing. Mine did something similar and it turned out to be a split pipe between turbo and intercooler - wasn't cheap to replace either!! HAving said that mines a 110 and I've an idea that intercooler is 110 specific but obviously, if the induction ciruiot is leaking air under turbo operation you're not getting the right conditions for clean fuel burn.

On the a/c and warning light issue all I can suggest is a careful check of wiring and connectors plus any switches. Do you know a decent auto electrician (or aircon tech) who might have the tools to do job properly.

Mine sometimes does the dropping to stops on start up thing. Not consistent and not affecting the ride so at 12yrs/150k miles I just get on and drive it.
