Ford Fiesta Van 1996 1.8D - kangaroo juice - dave56

Hi all

New around here and need some help. Its years since I had to do my own repairs and so am a bit rusty although I never did have much to do with diesels, so

we are looking at the 1996 fiesta 1.8D

It has suddenly developed a problem as if we have some kangaroo juice in her, I have done the obvious by changing the fuel filter but it has not made any difference.

now I will point out that the problem seems to be only at low speed once you get to around 40 and above it seems to be ok, the only other thing I can say if at all its relevant is that this was happening from when I first got the van but at that time it only seemed to be in second gear when accelorating from a junction Any feed back would be appreciated greatly

thanks all in anticipation

Dave

A friend's 1996 1.8D Fiesta used to do this too. It has over 100,000 miles on the clock.

My 1.9 Berlingo does it too, again over 100,000 miles.

As you say, only in second. I think it's driveshaft related, but I just ease off the accelerator until it stops.

Hi thanks for the feedback, although I appreciate what you say about the second gear problem as I do recall a similar problem on a escort van some time ago, I dont think its the overall cause

to elaborate on my first post I have now replaced the air filter, but no difference

but whilst working on it I have now noticed an oil leak around the air inlet manifold- could it be possible that oil is being drawn into the system from the manifold and causing the problem? any ideas appreciated

Dave
