I’m very confused to what this issue could. I recently brought a Vauxhall Zafira 1.9 CDti and it has been going back and forth to my local garage as when I select 5 or 6th gear (when the engine has warmed up). The car starts chucking out a load of white smoke from the exhaust but when you shut the engine off and re start the car the white smoke stops.

I originally thought it was the head gasket but there is no movement on the fluid and this has also been checked by the garage

The garage has changed two fuel injectors as well as checked the other two but still no cure

Any ideas what this could be?

And if its not oil then its water either way it wants returning and repairing.

Might just be a malfunctioning PCV which is building excessive crankcase pressure which is forcing oil past the rings underhigh boost/low RPM situations.

I'm not losing any water and the oil remains at the same level.

I'm still confused why the car stops smoking as soon as the car is turned off and re started?

Hmm...

Still think it is burning oil under these conditions Is there any evidence of oil being forced out of the dipstick tube-When you check the dipstick is it tight in the tube or is it 'ajar'?

hi sorry to ask but did you fix the problem as my 55 1.9 cdti zafira (150) is smoking white had new alternater fitted full service but no change can you help please thanks chirs

Mine does the same since having a new DPF in July. Tge mechanic has temporarily disconnected the pipe that runs to the DPF so we can see if it is the DPF/sensor or something else. It seems to be running s lot better. Will let you know next week what the outcome is. There have been no dash lights or fault codes.

Hi there... my 2007 Zafira B is doing exactly the same. Frequent white smoke and smelling of fumes... even at low speeds. DPF was replaced just a few months ago by National ... and then this problem appeared ever since. Does anyone have an idea what is wrong?
