In light of the most senior civil servant in charge of the West Coast Main Line bidding fiasco also being in charge of the Thameslink train order one as well, (Siemens being preffered to Bomdardier), I think it might be a good time to revisit this disaster also?
Apparently, this £1.4Bn contract will be signed-off to Siemens in January 2013. I bet the workers at Derby are hoping for a U turn? I hope they get their wish?
The sight of Philip Hammond explaining how it would be "impossible" for their descision to be reversed was pathetic. Could anyone honestly see a French or German Transport Minister having the same opinion?
