I was involved in an accident on Friday. A car pulled out of a junction and crashed into the rear of my elderly but reliable and much loved Corolla. The car suffered a dented bumber and a fairly minor bumpt to the side
The driver admitted fault at the roadside and phoned her insurance company to admit fault. Her insurers contacted me and told me that they would send out an assesor. The assesor arrived and after making his report, the repairers told me that it is a 'total write off.' despite the damage being fairly minor.
I am puzzled on a number of levels. How can they 'write off' a car that they don't insure? Do I have any right to insist that they repair the car, even if it is uneconomic for them to do so?
