SEAT Leon - Hot start problem - Steve33

We have a 55 plate current shape 1.9PD Leon with 68k on the clock. Runs fine except when it comes to hot starting. It can take 4-5 seconds of cranking to get it to fire. When it does it starts with a substantial jolt.

This happens on every hot start. Cold or part warm starts are fine. It only occurs if the vehicle has got up to full operating temperature. No fault codes logged.

Any ideas welcomed!

Is this a late early shaper leon or a new shape and what is the cars engine type code?

SEAT Leon - Hot start problem - Steve33

It is the current shape Leon 2005 -

It has the 1.9 TDi Pumpe Duse motor (103 bhp). Engine code is BKC.

Thanks.

It could be a faulty starter motor. Unless it achvies a minumum of 280rpm it can cause the engine not to start. We commonly see this on cars that have needed a new dual mass flywheel due to it breaking up.

That's an interesting suggestion, as it had a new DMF at about 40,000.
