Although the announcement was made some time ago, with the launch of its 2013 price list, Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz has technically stopped producing its super-luxurious Maybach collection. Nobody seemed to want Maybach

There are a lot of reasons why Daimler AG would get rid of the collection, but the biggest reason is most likely that the car sales have been slow. The peak of sales was in 2004 when the business sold 224 sedans. Only 99 were sold last year in the States after a $100,000 rebate was being offered. Prices of the Maybach range from $376,000 to $1,380,000.

Get brand new at a discount

Maybach will be selling off its remaining 2012 models, probably at substantial discounts, but that will be the end of the collection, which was itself a revival of one kaput in the World War II era.

Revived many times

In the 1990s, all three major German automakers decided to create super-luxury lines, using respected names from the past. Volkswagen revived the Bentley, BMW acquired Rolls-Royce, and Mercedes took on the even more-distant Maybach collection. However, the limo-like super-luxury sedans never took off for any car maker in a way that was hoped for.

Options with Maybach

You can get a 5.5 liter V12 in the Maybach collection with 543 horsepower if you opt for the Maybach Type 57 or the Maybach Type 62. Both cars come with this motor. The Maybach Landulet gets 620 horsepower though with its 6.0 liter V12. All of these cars will be gone soon.

A brand new competition, sort of

The 600S Pullman is another car from the past that Daimler is going to be adding to the collection though, according to AOL Autos. It will join the S series to be able to compete with Rolls-Royce and Bentley. Daimler will not stop providing the courtesy of brand new cars to customers. All types of engines are supposedly going to be accessible with the new Pullman.

In 1963, the Mercedes-Benz 600 was launched as luxury vehicles. There was the Pullman, which was a long wheel-based version of that model.
