mondeo 02 plate tddi 2ltr - engine stopping at running temp - gelly

Hi guys, i have a problem with the above car, once it gets to normal running temp it coughs splutters and dies, when cold its fine. Any ideas, I know nothing about cars so im totally up a creak. thanks

Having done a load of searching on here im now even more confused. com. Could be fuel pump, filter, one of many sensors. But i'm certain its heat related, ie the engine is saying its not being cooled, as when its left to cool down its run fine until the temp. starts to reach running temp. ( No sign of overheating on temp gauge)

There is probably another temperature sensor connected to the ECU, I would suspect its faulty. You really need to get the fault codes read.

do you get any white smoke? I am having a similar problem but with lots of white exhaust
