A customer brought in a Shogun with no drive six months ago. I renewed the dmf and clutch with genuine oe parts. It went away fine but returned two months later showing signs of iminent dmf failure. I replaced it all again and thinking that the parts must have been at fault.

Another two months down the line and the same thing is happening. I can get no joy out of Mitsubushi who tell me that they have never had problems with Shogun dmf's.

I am getting desperate. Nobody seems to be able to help.

Yours hopefully

Hugo

I suspect bad driving and/or heavy towing at the root of this.

You should be able to judge what the clutch and DMF have gone through when you remove it, can you smell the clutch?

Thanks for the reply. The car has no towbar and I have been driven by the customer. He drives very sensibily. The clutch is working fine but there is lash on the flywheel. When the vehicle is started there is considerable side to side movement on the engine and gearbox unit, I have examinded the engine mountings and propshaft joints and they all seem fine.

The clutch doesn't smell burned either. When I replaced it for the second time there were no signs of overheating on the cover, driven plate or flywheel.

Is the owner is likely to chug along at low revs with the engine at near idle or be labouring the engine regulary?

Steve.
