Mazda6 2006 50k - Excessive oil use - Tally

I had car serviced last month and have just checked oil and it is just on bottom of dipstick so has used quite a bit of oil in last 4 weeks is this usual for a car with 50k.

I haven't had to top it up before, going to France next week so quite worried something is wrong. Any advicse / ideas

These cars do use more oil than normal cars do by miles but just be aware that there was a recall from Mazda about excessive oil usage back when might be worth phoning Mazda and quoting your vin number and asking if there is any outstanding recalls

All the mazdas we look at with these engines do use a lot of oil on a day to day basis though.

Well this is just my opinion.

If you've been doing the 20000 mile oil changes you might have worn it out.

Mazda used to be the epitome of japanese perfection obsession but since Ford took 'em over, perhaps quality may have declined.

You do not say if you checked the oil level after it was serviced and you do not say how many miles you have done since the service. Regards Peter
