Ford Transit Connect - Steering Rack repaired under warranty - Failed - FFLB

I have a Ford Transit Connect 09 in March this year the steering rack was replaced under warranty.

The warranty expired last week and the steering rack has now failed again.

I took it back to Ford for investigation, they are saying because I did not pay for the repair in March, I am not entitled to have this faulty part replaced unless I pay.

The part can not have been fit for purpose, should I have to pay ?

Was the rack replaced under Ford warranty or a secondhand used vehicle warranty? If it was Ford then I strongly suggest you ring their Customer relation Department. A steering rack is a safety critical item and should last longer than 6 months. No manufacturer can hide behind ' its out of warranty' on safety items - in your case it was replaced only a few months ago.
