Shouldn't need to but if the pads are well worn and the fluid reservoir full there is a real danger that when you retract the pistons to fit the new thicker pads the reservoir will overflow and damage your paintwork so, very carefully using a turkey baster from the pound store extract some of the fluid before you start. When you've finished top up the reservoir again and dispose of the excess fluid safely (not down the drain)
