Volkswagen Passat - Difficult Valuation - Roly93

I have a pricing dilemma on my hands.

I need to sell my fathers Feb 2003/03 Passat S diesel 105BHP after his recent sudden death.

Normally pricing such a car would be easy, but this car is still showroom fresh with only 32K miles on it an absolutely full SH, cambelt and water pump done a couple of years ago, full MOT new battery a month ago and in generally sublime condition to an almost atomic level, 10 months tax and a near full tank of diesel.

We have no use for the car so realistically how much do you folks think it is worth ?

Sorry to hear of your loss.

I'm no expert in second hand car values but I would imagine it's worth about £2 -2.5k as a private sale. It sounds like a superb example and maybe trying sell in on a specialist VW forum would get the best price and ensure it went to a good home, which I think your father would want if he has maintained it the way you describe. Obviously, the car's age goes against it but I would be wary about 'giving it away'.

I'm sure someone far more knowledgeable will be along shortly ....

Thanks for the reply, I wanted to strike a balance between the cars excellence and the sheer age detracting from its value.

Hi ,roly

Very difficult to find a car like your fathers with such low mileage ,in addition the passat has always been a sort after car .

Having checked equivalent cars on autotrader ,I think you should ask £3000 ,possibly £3500 ,it would be competitively priced even at £3500 .
