Hello everyone,

I have a really annoying issue with my car and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.

Basically, I had my car remapped a few months ago - car much better, more responsive, tourquer, faster etc. But now im noting a problem with a sort of juddering/hesitation at low revs and a faint turbo whistle.

1. Between about 1200-1900rpm the car judders slightly (whether acceleratiing or maintaining a constant speed), its not particuarly bad but you can hear/feel it

2. When accelerating from idle you can hear what i presume is the turbo as a very quiet whine, no loss of power or anything though so i'm not sure if this is normal (but I havent noticed it before).

I will check the service history of the car tonight, but I've tried a full talk of Ultimate diesel (cost a fortune) and s shot of diesel redex, with no luck. I've been reading about the FAP sensor, apparently it can cause issues like this if it hasn't been topped up/replaced?

Does anyone know if theres anything i can try in an attempt to rule things out, I have ordered a bluetooth ODB sensor and have the Android Tourqe app, hoping it can show something useful.

i'm just dreading that the turbo or something is on the way out...

Nearly forgot to say - the car is a 55 (Sep 2005 model)

Thanks in advance

I can't find in the service book if the FAP fluid has been replaced - does anyone know if its easy to check?

Thanks

Short of removing the ELOY'S tank and checking it that way you'll need Peugeot Planet or similar high end diagnostics to test the fluid level.

Actually removing the tank isn't that hard, from a a ramp that is.

But anyway I'm biased against remaps, with these in particular.

I'm hoping the remap hasnt ruined anything - it wasn't cheap!

Saying that i've just unplugged the MAF sensor and it all now seems ok, is it save to drive it with it disconnected until i can replace/clean it?

Thanks

Hi everyone

I have replaced the MAF and it was running fine for a week or so - but now the problems have come back exactly the same as before! Checked the error codes and got a ~"fuel filler cap sensor" error. Unplug the MAF and all is good again. I'm guessing the MAF is all part of the same system?

I'm not too bothered about the £90 spent on the MAF because i'm sure someone would snap it up on ebay etc but is there any way to test if the cap sensor is defnitley at fault without buying a new one? maybe force it to give a reading for the DPF to regenerate?

Thanks :)

With the MAF disconnected the engine will be running reduced output as it won't know the actual airflow, so that may mask the problem. The ECU needs to know when you refuel so it can calulate the Eolys to be injeted, no Eolys means the DPF may start to get clogged. I would also check the pipes from turbo to intercooler to manifold for leaks. These may not be obvious as they only show when under pressure but look for oil spray teltale marks. The fuel flap sensor is just a magnet on the flap & a sensor in the boot, the magnets have a habit of falling off.
