Renault Laguna SPT - Cruise Control v Speed Limiter - Mikem3

I read a lot about "Cruise Control" and that it increases fuel consumption.

How is the fuel consumption affected when using the "Speed Limiter"?

I have both on my car, I only ever use the cruise control on long Motorway

journeys, I can override the this by pressing on the accelerator.

I use the speed limiter in urban areas after getting booked for doing 34/35

MPH on a dual carriageway in SW London that is mostly a 40MPH road.

When I press the accelerator all the way to the floor, nothing happens when

I am uding the speed limiter.

Does the speed limiter affect the fuel consumption in any way?

Thank you for any answers.

Mike.

My Megane III has the identical system. Cruise control will definitely increase fuel consumption due to maintaining speed on an uphill section, also if disengaged in traffic then re-engaged it accelerates a sight harder than I would normally. The speed limiter doesn't increase consumption because it cuts the fuel regardless of the positon of the accelerator pedal. As you say, there's no override via the pedal, which would rather defeat the object. Easy enough to flick it off though if you really want to risk a quick burst!
