My wife has an old Audi 80 TDi that we would like to keep for just another six months or so.

It has been in the family since new with 100,200. miles on the clock.

Recently , it has started to cut out when we step on the gas. It will bimble along at 30 or 70 mph but hit the gas and the car starts to jolt to what seems like fuel starvation. I am reasonably competent with a spanner so what I am asking is , can anybody suggest a checklist that I could do ( fuel pump filter etc) before I find a mecahnic and wait in a the que for a repair.
