Mazda 6 - Mazda 6 Won't start after changing oil - mazda17

I have a 58 plate Mazda 6 2.0L Diesel. I have had the dreaded dpf light come on and took it to the Mazda dealer. They advised changing the oil and filter and regenerating the dpf. I opted to change the oil and filter myself and return it for them to them to do the regeneration. Having changed the oil and filter, the car will now not turn over. All the relevant lights come on on the turn of the key, but the car makes no attempt to turn the engine over. I have tested the battery, which is fine. Is there something I am missing?

Have you possibly disturbed the connections to the starter motor solenoid? Another possibility is the main engine earth.

Providing the immobiliser is working okay, I can't think of any other reasons why doing an oil change should stop the starter motor working.

If the DPF is so blocked that it requires forced regen i wonder if at a certain threshhold the dratted computer doesn't allow the engine to fire up except under dealer forced regen.

Long shot, but unless as Oily suggests you've accidentally dislodged something i see no good reason why it shouldn't at least turn over, go carefully over what you have done, you might have dislodged a multi connecter getting to the filter.

As an aside you don't read many encouraging posts about Mazda 6 Diesels.

When I tried to start the car again the following morning, away it went first time and has been fine since, so I don't know what the problem was. I have had the regeneration done at Mazda now and it seems to be fine again for now. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the update, the most important post...too often missing.

Purely out of interest what did Mazda charge you for the forced regen?
