Renault Laguna II DCi - Radio wont turn on, dont need key to start engine! - CBR_Bob

Hi,

Yesterday I got out of the car and locked it as normal. I noticed that the radio was still on. I got back in the car, put the key card in, took it out, radio still on. I put key card back in, started the car, stopped the car, took key card out, radio still on. I closed the door and locked the car. Radio still on. I put the key card in, took it out, radio still on.

With the keycard still in my hand, I pressed start and the car started up! I turned the car off, locked the doors. Opened the doors, pressed start, nothing happened (like it should!).
It seems that locking the doors immobilses the car but once the key card has been in the slot, you can start the car without the key until the car is locked again.

All this time, noth the radio and the 12v charge has remained on. I had to remove the radio face and iPhone charger last night. When I get home from work (I dont use the car for work) I am expecting the battery to be flat.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

Cheers in advance

Sorry, that was meant to say, radio won't turn OFF.

It started earlier. The radio wasnt on one I returned home.
I've read that sometimes when this happens on other cars it turns off after an hour which sounds like that may have happened.

Also noticed this eve that the heater stays on and the electric mirrors continue to work...

Edit: I disconnected the battery for 20 mins. No joy.

I removed the radio and handsfree kit. Still not fixed it...

Sounds like: Printed Circuit Baord .. behind dash. failed solder or capacitor or other rubbish the French do when they do electronics.

I suggest an auto electrician or a Renault dealer - and possibly a load of money.
