Legal insurance cover - Wronskian

What do people think about separate legal cover on your insurance (i.e. not taking out the policy offered by your insurer, but instead going elsewhere). And any recommendations? I remember Autolaw used to be liked round here but it seems from recent threads that perhaps that's no longer the case...

Thanks for any suggestions.

I also have the same enquiry as my Autolaw policy is due to be renewed this coming 1st May.

I was with Autolaw; they recently had the nerve to send me a reminder to renew even though to all outward appearances the outfit is non-functional.

Instead I went with Best Advice UK - google that for their website.

To be absolutely clear: I have no business interest in Best Advice - I am merely a customer and I cannot even say I am a satisfied customer, as I haven't (thankfully) had to call on their services. The premium seemed reasonable.

Not nowadays, it's more like the LV appreciation society (not surprisingly, as they are effectively the CSMA)

Steer clear of Autolaw!!!!!!

They seem to be incapable of issuing valid policies and I so have had to report them to the National Fraud Investigation Bureau as well as the FSA.

Free standing legal cover is way cheaper that the same cover policy/cover offered as a paid for extra by one;s motor insurer. I understand they "buy the policies in bulk for less than £5 and pass them on at £25. Same sort of mark up as washing machine and white goods insurance.
