i have a 06 dispatch 2.0 hdi ,im having mega problems with the offside sliding door ,the vehicle as central locking and motion controlled locking (taxi) it locks and unlocks no problem but on occasions while driving along the o/s door opens itself when you stop and slide the door shut it catches no problem and stays closed until it decides to pop open again ,as anybody have any pointers to look at ,its driving me mad and not very safe when your carrying passengers

i have also locked the door with the key and checked it was locked but it still managed to pop open ,when i tried to shut the door it wouldnt shut too because i had locked it so how on earth does the door pop open even when locked ,very confusing indeed

Assuming mechanism is unpowered and broadly similar to a Berlingo...

Check the door latch mechanism carefully. Observe how it and the door runners work (compare with nearside).

Is anything twisted or bent? Is dirt or a foreign object preventing the latch from engaging correctly as the door shuts? Are the runners/guides at the top and bottom of the door clean so that it can run easily to the fully closed postion. Check each of the linkages and articulating joints in the mechanism for rust, clean and lubricate with a light oil or specialist lock lube.

If no joy then off to a dealer/indy pdq - licensing commitee will take a dim view of pax overboard....

If taxi fit includes power operated doors go straight to last loint...

cheers ,looks like a strip down job ;-( runners are nice and clean and copper grease applied so they glide nice and smooth ,when you 1st close the door its shut tight i have even been inside and tried pushing the door open but it was shut tight but when driving along at no set point you hear it pop open ,dont worry its parked up until its sorted ,looks like sunday will be a strip down job and a few chose words said ,

job done ,1 cut finger ,1 metal splinter but we got there in the end ,the problem was the back door latch had become stiff so was not engaging as it should ,taken it off and cleaned it all up and it now moves freely and engages as it should so fingers crossed thats done the trick ,took it out on a run and the door stayed shut !
