Hi ,I've just watched the car chase from The film bullit on YouTube ,between the green mustang and the black dodge charger ,

The Styling on the dodge is amazing.

It must be thirty years old but it comes across as fresh as ever ,the soundtrack is amazing ,has their ever been a better car chase in a movie.

1971 Duel [Spielberg]-Wonderful shots of that Peterbilt 281 chasing the Plymouth valiant.

It was a genuine 1960 truck with 5 and 4 transmission and manual steering. That sorts the truckers from the steering wheel attendents.

1974 Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry [Hough]. Most of the focus is on the yellow Dodge Charger. but I prefer the '68 Caprice used at the start of the film.

That is all.

Two-lane Blacktop, that '55 Chevy with the 454 big-block is a thing of beauty

Vanishing Point, who wouldn't like a Challenger 440 R/T (even if it's not supercharged)?

Also The Driver, some fabulous driving sequences in that, especially the Merc in the underground car park :)

I have to agree with Jamie,

Ronin has the absolute definitive car sequence, Exdex, Period, Finito.

Perhaps because its more about the genunine high speed driving .........................than the car smashing or unnecessary "yumping" for the camera.

I only watched the film fairly recently, quite incidentaly on TV.

Ronin is brilliant ,but I would still rate it second to bullit, perhaps it's an age thing. My age not the film.

The soundtrack is amazing ,the noise of the American muscle cars is fantastic.

I especially like the odd little things in the sequence ,the green beetle that's overtaken by both cars three times ,the dodge appears to hit the camera at one point. The wheel trims on the dodge fly off at one point ,but later in the sequence are on.

Amazing, especially considering how old it is.

It's worth remembering that camera techniques must have changed dramatically by the time ronin was made.

One of the French Connection movies. Gene Hackman borrows a car chases a overhead subway train. Great stuff.

For sheer comedy and destruction you cannot beat the Blues Brothers, agree with others about Ronin for reality and drama though, mind you I could never get my Pug 406 to drive like that !!

I bought a car mag a few years ago with a free "dvd" best car chases.

.

as well as those already mentioned....

THE ITALIAN JOB.....

(love the blue brothers....)

Elwood: It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
Jake: Hit it.

.

[Elwood Blues Jake Blues has a fight over the police car Elwood Blues got after he traded away the original bluesmobile for a microphone]
Elwood: You don't like it?
Jake: No I don't like it...
[Elwood Blues floors the pedal and jumps over an open drawbridge]
Jake: Car's got a lot of pickup.
Elwood: It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?
[a brief thinking pause while Jake attempts to light a cigarette]
Jake: Fix the cigarette lighter

If you tried to drive mine like that you'd end up in a hedge or a restaurant. Its clear for the movie they'd have the 3.0litre V6 model and it was probably modified underneath to the point where it had very few Peugeot components tbh.
