Hi,
I've seen a number of similar issues posted having checked various newsgroups but thery were all several years ago and none seemed to give a definitive solution (which maybe isn't possible) so I'm posting this in the hope maybe someone sees it now.
I've had my Corsa for over 6 years without issue - even the Easytronic gearbox. A couple of weeks ago I had an issue whereby the alarm/immobiliser wouldn't shut off because of as it turns out the key fob had become unsynchronised.
Anyway when it originally happened the breakdown guy ended up disconnecting the battery (in an effort to stop the alarm) and the Vauxhall dealership reset the radio code.
A few days ago I had a situation whereby upon moving off from stationary traffic the car just seemed to lose power and just revved when you pressed the accelerator. On that occasion I had to turn the engine off/on and things seemed to reset. It's happened a number of times since and having read a few historic posts I've tried always putting into N when stationary and even turning the engine off but although it resets not very long after it happens again. It's always in low gear seemingly moving up from 1st to 2nd and for me after I've been driving for a while say 30 minutes, hasn't happened straight after a cold start.
I did the code check and it came back with P1700 SVS request via CAN B-06 and I've read people suggesting replacing the Crank Shaft Sensor to it being the clutch or gear selector or ECU.
I know the age of the car means it just might be the major failure that brings it to an end and it's clearly not worth the £600-£1000 I've seen for replacing the clutch/gears etc, but I read a post today around someone getting ECU issues after a flat battery so as a bit of straw clutch I'm wondering where the disconnection of the battery has done anything?
I'm resigned to having to take it into the dealership but I wanted to ask the following to anyone who can help:
1) What does P1700 actually mean is wrong i.e. what part of the car is it likely to be; connected to the battery being disconnected or Easytronic issue - what does SVS request via CAN B-06 mean?
2) For anyone who's had this issue (and I know there are few given the posts I've seen) if you managed to resolve it what was done, since from the range of garage feedbacks it seems to be 1 of half a dozen causes.
Any help gratefully received.
