Nissan Note 1.6 Petrol - Nissan Note - Possible Head Gasket on way out - stormuk

2008 (March) Nissan Note purchased from non Nissan garage, 44k now 49k on the clock.

Cars been slowly losing coolant for a about four months. It also has the squeely belts so was thinking it was connected initially - Garage advised to keep an eye on it.

Took it into Nissan today and they say its the head gasket and that they wont know the damage fully without taking it apart but estimate £750 to repair and at same time fix belt.

Had a go and ringing Nissan seeing Ive owned so many Nissans and with it being a 2008 model but they wont help as I didnt buy it from one of thier Garages.

Taking it to local garage now to see how much the damage if it is the Head Gasket.

One thing that puzzles me though is if it was the head gasket would it not get worse? Its about a .5 of a litre a month seems to be worse on longer journeys so heat is playing a part.

If you are loosing water as a result of a leaking head gasket it will be being blown out of the header tank overflow or filler cap, if you look in that area you will probably see a white deposit caused by dry antifreeze. You can check for sure by placing the end of the overflow pipe in a receptical.
