HI all - the heater in the van has just decided not to blow out warm anymore and also the air con which has always worked now appears not to be working - is this coincidence both are gone or would one problem cause them both to fail? any ideas/fixes?

Is the blower working, are you getting cold air or none at all?

just cold air - would it be the thermostat?

In that case either the hot airflow flap is stuck or you have an airlock in the heater matrix. Check the temperature of the flow and return pipes to the heater, they go through the bulkhead usually behind the top of the engine, they should both be hot although one may be hotter than the other, if they are it must be an air flow problem, try changing the heat setting and see if it varies.
