I've put them in touch with each other. I've no idea why he was called Bunny, bu he was of a generation where nicknames were much more common than they are now. I remember him as a respected motoring journalist - not sure if he was also a racing driver.
He was known as Bunny for family reasons which are lost in the mists of time. However to a lot of people (family included) he was simply DBT. He certainly never used his given name.
He wasn't actually a racing driver, but he had a very wide ranging knowledge of cars and motor racing having been a motoring journalist since before WW2. He regularly test drove the new models, knew most of the motor racing fraternity of the 30s 40s, 50s & 60s and lived, breathed & dreamt cars and other machinery. Quite simply, he was the best.
