hi can anyone help i have a 2.5 diesel movano the engine just cuts off when you are driving seems like the fuel has just been cut off turn the ignition off and back on it starts straight away ive cleaned out the tank and filters what next the code 1882 came up when put on the diagnostic machine .took it to vauxhall they wanted 200 pound just to tell me what the problem is please help its very frustrating cheers for your time

,an update on my 06 movano that keeps cutting out ,i have had two new injectors fitted at a cost of 400 pound ,which was cheap ,i drove the van 80 miles drove great no problems thought thats cured it as i had 2 injectors sucking too much fuel on the test i had done ,i went another 60 miles and would you believe it cut out again turned the ignition off then on as im driving, and it carried on as if it hadnt cut out .i have spent a lot of money on it ,and i still have not found out what is causing it to cut out , its very frustating, no one seems to know ,but i have read a lot of forums and it seems a very common fault on the movanos .any ideas what i can try next..your help will be great.
ps i have had the fuel tank cleaned out , changed the fuel filter changed 2 injectors ,fault 1882 comes up on the computer .other people have changed the sensors and still no cure help please cheers

Honestly I'm near the point of NOT code reading these or variants,I put the kettle on and pull of the whole damn harness and bench check the thing,mm by mm,found 14 seperate shorts on one!New rule on these?it's electrical,somewhere.

The 1882 code fuel rail pressure sensor circuit. Runs on a bosch edc 15c3 c/rail system This code is pointing to the wiring circuit on fuel rail sensor. This sensor has a 3 terminal plug marked 1-2-3 at key on must have 5v's at terminal 3. At terminal 2 key on must have 0.5v's. Terminal 1 is earth(ground) Ifyou cant find the readings as above then the wiring would need to be checked back from pressure plug 1-2-3 to corresponding wires on ecu plug. Terminal 1 to ecu pin no 3b3. Terminal 2 to ecu pin no 2d1 Terminal 3 ecu pin no 2h2 Hth Regards Mickeybo

i have the same problem i swapped the fuel rail c/w sensor for a brand new one £209 & it made b***** all difference

i'll now take the advice above & trace the wires or am i just better to replace with new wires between the plug & ECU?

ok thanks to avant who said it was electrical

finally after paying different people for cleaning out fuel filters and the tank, replacing fuel regulator, changing injectors, changing diesel pump, fuel pump and fuel rail sensors, and spending a fortune on parts and labour. and after all that ,the fault continued and made no difference to my fault of driving along, engine cuts out ,turn key off and on again and the van just carried on as if nothing had happened , just got it back from ridlers at dulverton and hopefully they are 99.9 %sure they have fixed it , i drove it back and touch wood they have fixed it no cut out , they found an electrical fault the engine management relay was playing up getting very hot ,and a fault in the loom, they also changed at my request the crankshaft sensor so ,everyone who has the same problem get them checked before you spend a fortune like me ,cheers

Thats great news ,at last, same prob with mine, only when i turn the key off and on again it goes into limp home mode( no power) then clears after a couple of seconds,, i guess the engine managment relay is one of the green ones in the engine bay with the big fuses.

i think i'll swap some arround ( theres 4 i think) hope i get lucky, and maybe pull the engine loom apart.

I know its early days yet with yours, but let us know how yours gets on,, i know a lot of people are trying to diagnos this fault

VAUXHALL OPEL MOVANO VIVARO 2.5 CDTI D FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR CONTROL VALVE cost 53,90 gbp fits on front of engine with 3x t25 torx head bolts and an electrical connector took me 1hr to fit as the bolts were a git to get off but they are made of brass so a good squirt of wd40 and put a bar on the top and give em a hit on top to loosen them.

My van is cured., doesn't cut out no more and a £70 fix... DIY job. STARTS MUCH BETTER NOW ALSO.

I had exactly this. If in 4th or 5th the revs dropped to 1500 or lower and you then accelerated (typically going round a roundabout with changing down ) and then you accelertae the engine cuts out. the igntion then need to be switched off and then start up again. NOT a good idea on a motorway slip road.

I spent £2k on injectors etc etc etc. Then after only a year+ of aggravation we have sussed it out.

Replace the common rail

On the common rail is a valve/sensor and replacing the complete common rail assembly has solved the problem.

Hopefuly, mstery solved for a lot you guys who have been lashiing out money and pulling your hair out as your cash does not cure it!

Hi I have been having the same problem , looked at hundreds of blogs, but have just changed diesel hand primer bulb cleaned filter and changed quick fit fittings x2 on filter and running much smoother and not cut out even after pressure to make it, fingers crossed. Only cost twenty quid

Had same problem for months so took it to a local diesel specialist and hey presto,They fixed it straight away £300 but done. It was a faulty over pressure valve in the common rail and it was also not starting as it should but now seems good.

Hi

I know this is an old thread, but it may help someone. My movano was suffering exact same problems. Stalling randomly then restating immediately. irregular running at idle. I changed the overpressure valve (on common rail) and the fuel regulator (on the fuel pump) still the same. I Decided to try a replacement,cloned ECU. as I was getting fault codes that came and went, for no reason.I used a company called ecu doctor in the UK, I removed my ecu, and posted to them they then cloned mine and placed on a replacement working, tested ECU. sent it back on a 2 week trial period. so a couple of days and no stalling, engine is idling perfectly. it cost me £370 hopefully that is fixed it. if It had not worked, I could have returned ECU and got my old one back, for around £100. Just something that may be of help to anyone having same problems.

Brass bolts needing a bar to undo? Sure they weren't chromate passivated zinc coated steel, these have a yellow colour and commonly used on cars.

When i say a bar i mean i placed a bar on top of the bolt head and hit it to shock it looser after wd40 as it had been on for so many years.
