Hit & Run - Peter

My daughter in law has today, received paperwork from the Met Police informing her, her car was involved in a hit and run situation.

She does not live or work in the London area and has never driven there.

It could be someone has cloned her number plates or the number misread. Obviously she cannot fill the driver's details out as she has no idea etc. but we do not want to get into legal saga with the Met. but could anyone give us guidance on how to proceed.

Many thanks.

I had one of these years ago and , yes it was in London. I found which was the nearest police station to where the alleged offence took place and reported it as a cloning attempt and got an incident/crime number, adding that I had an independent witness who could confirm the car on the day at the time as being not in London. Sent this back-never heard another word.
