hi guys

was wondering if you could help me?

I'm currently having problems with my 1.8 astra, I recently got the engine replaced as piston failure occurred when driving down the motorway due to low oil, the mechanic said now after the new engine in when He reconnects the battery leads without the ignition on the fuel injectors are staying open and filling the cylinders and inlet manifold full of fuel.
The mechanic said it was a ECM so that was another 150pound, So I purchased a 2nd hand brain off him with chip and reader and the mechanic replaced it with NO CHANGE!

I think I might be getting taken on and was wondering if you could explain if this was the cause or not or what is the problem?

Any help would be much appreciated

Kind regards

Liam

That needs a sparky to investigate ! It almost sounds like a trapped wire earthing somewhere or an earth wire on the injector rail been left off on the manifold !

This is asuming that the injectors are passing fuel, as I have seen a fuel pressure reg diaphram fail and that pours fuel through the vacum pipe into the manifold and floods the engine something chronic !

I have also seen when engines replaced before the multi plug for the TPS and AFM being fitted round the wrong way ! on some vauxhalls around that year.

Ensure engine earth has been reconnected - if not all sorts of wierd things can happen. Try connecting a jump lead between engine and battery earth (-).

When you have found the problem change the engine oil again as petrol will have run past the bores and contaminated it. If you don't you may be fitting another!

Hi guys,

thanks for the replies ;)

Found the starter wires were mixed up (earth and live) as on the vauxhalls the live is black and the earth is brown as I just found out.lol. It was causing a massive short and opening the injectors.

Yes big John I will certainly take your advice and replace the oil again.

Many thanks again

Cheers
