beware the ides of January....and August - barney100

Had an e-mail from the fair fuel price peoiple who reckon that the planned increases in fuel duty in January and August will increase the cost of fuel ''by 33p a gallon'' don't know if this is scaremongering or if there is some truth here. I worry for young familes who are struggling already with higher prices on heating and food etc etc.

I read an article saying that the price of a tank of fuel is expected to be £100 by £2015. No thank you! We've got some really odd price discrepancies up here at the mo between garage chains and the supermarkets. The supermarkets could make themselves more attractive to motorists by not passing on the duty increase.

Eek. I'm putting 70-ish litres in my tank and paying about £89 for it. I think the article means the average tank and clearly there are very different prices around the UK!
