LPG on the A1M - Ethan Edwards

Just been to York and back.

Going up no problem I found a couple of stations and refilled so as to arrive with virtually a full tank. Wittering and Pontefract. A different story coming back.

Newark BP didn't have any and there were no more stations on the A1M / M11. I found a Total one nearby to the Newark BP just off of the A1 (by about a hundred yards or so) but frankly it's a desert out there ...LPG wise! Coming off on the A14 I found a Shell at Fenstanton so thats where I filled up.

I can do up to a 180 miles between fill ups but why risk running out. If you do run LPG with a smallish tank you neeed to apply a lot of forward planning peeps. Google is your friend!

Now prices. Oop north you lucky people are paying 69.9 a litre. Down south it's 72.9 on and up. Seems like we're being ripped off down here to me.

Had a good time but boy aren't you Northerners a bit reckless especially on the three lane A roads. I thought we Essex blokes were a bit hot but OMG !

The further North you go the more fun the roads are! Cumbria is a delight...!

From their very pages, Balby 66.9, DGS Wheatley Hall Rd Donny 63, P'boro services 69, Flogas P'boro 66.

Roadside filling stations are usually overpriced, you have to pre plan smaller sites to get good prices, luckily my tank is 80litres so can get somewhat further unless belting along.

Hi Gordon - aren't those are only accessible when your travelling North...I was travelling south. Like I said Northbound was no problem. To access those you would have to go past, cross over, drive north. Fill up then find a cross over and continue south. Which is a faff too far.

It's a cunning northern plan to trap affluent Southerners here and empty their wallets.
