Ford Focus - 07 1.6 petrol focus temperature gauge reading low - petrolpeter

Hi all,

Just picked up my new car today, a 07 plate 1.6 petrol focus.

I drove it in mixed traffic, a roads and motorways for about 30 miles and the temperature gauge didn't reach the mid-point. It sat consistently at about 80% of the mid-point.

The coolant levels are fine, the car ran well, the radiator was hot at the end of the journey and the car warmed up quickly.

Is this likely to be an issue? I was thinking thermostat but it warmed up really quickly and the gauge position was consistent.

Hi Petrolpeter,

I've owned an 05 MK2 1.6 focus for the past five years and the temp guage has always read 80% to the mid point when warm.

The gauges are not that accurate-if it's somewhere near the middle it's OK!
