I had one from new and did 52000 miles in it.
Alternator failed at 14000 miles,no spares available the dealer had to take one off of a new car. The power steering failed regularly no fix available-put up with it! The steering wheel came loose, knackered the clock spring behind the wheel, no horn or radio controls on the wheel. The car got progressively harder to start after 40000 miles-the dealer said"wait until it gets cold in the winter so we can diagnose it" The front nearside suspension collapsed and had to be rebuilt under warranty. The check engine light came on and was reset so many times by the dealer that I lost count. When i complained to the dealer I was told "They're only meant to do the shopping in, you've done too many miles in it"
The car had a dangerous inbuilt fault where when joining an A road busy roundabout from a minor road with a cold engine about a mile from home it would hesitate and stall with full throttle, told by the dealer "It's the way you are driving it, not the car's fault"
The handbrake needed two hands to it to hold the car on a hill-never rectified"again told "they all do that sir"
The engine always sounded like a cement mixer full of castanets I was told (predictably) "They all do that sir, it's a diesel (Yes I know, 25 years of working professionally for a Scandinavian diesel engine manufacturer tells me that)
My verdict? My first and last Vauxhall-never again will I purchase anything that GM have meddled with.
Suzuki and Fiat also use this nasty little 1.3 diesel and has been a problem in their cars also apparently.
I got rid of it and bought a Honda.
