DISABILITY CARD - MickSas
Having never used a Blue Disability Card I displayed the wrong side and have been given two parking tickets. This is because the warden cannot read the expiry date. Since the council issue the card it would seem to be a relatively simple matter to verify the expiry date, and if such information is so important it should surely be displayed on both sides of the card.

Rules and regulations Mick.

One of the conditions is that it has to be displayed correctly so that it can be read.

Get one of these.

Put the clock bit in one side, the card in the other, just open it and leave it open on the dashboard (so as you can see the badge, obviously). Keep it in the door pocket the rest of the time. My mother has a blue badge and she uses one of these, much easier.

PS This was the first one which came up on Ebay i dont sell these :)

The reason you have been given the tickets is that some dishonest people deliberately put their card the wrong way up to hide the fact that it's expired.

It may be worth an appeal, which will be simpler still if the tickets were issued by the same local authority which issued the badge.

Quite often even if it has expired but you display it the correct way up it looks less suspicious and plods dont bother looking at the expiration date. My mother had to do this on a few occasions because despite applying for her renewal on her blue badge 8 weeks in advance of the expiration date (when she was told to) and being approved it still took 12 weeks for it to be delivered.

And when you get your new one they tell you to send your old one back because they know Plod doesnt bother reading expiration dates also.
