if i have the dpf egr and vsl removed and the ecu remapped by an expert will this solve the problem of the dpf getting clogged on short journeys?

Basically yes, but whether it will pass the forthcoming MOT changes is the 64thou dollar question.

It's the question i've asked many times and no one has ventured a reply, your expert has a vested interest in assuring you all will be well.

One could possibly get an identical replacement down pipe minus the ingredients of the DPF made up and swap as and when needed, similar to how the decat boys do, not as anyone here would advocate such a thing..;)

Come back and give us the low down if you get it done.

All it needs is a 10 - 15 minute drive every couple of weeks or so, isn't this cheaper than all that expense?

hi i ha a dpf and glow plug and engine management light on in my A4 sline, i looked through the net to find advice on changing my dpf sensor..only to find it didnt sort my issue

I then took it Audi dealership, who told me i wanted a new DPF filter as it had reached 90% blockage. They wanted £1500 for part and fitting. After looking through the net again i found better info which had good feedback

It was a time consuming job but fairly straight forward to do on my A4...

I then stripped the DPF from the exhaust and cleaned it using neat Traffic film remover from the clean to the dirt side, to stop soot going back into the clean side. I used a guaze filter to help do this and repeated the process a couple of times. I then used a pressure washer with hot water to clean it out further till the flow was one to one i tried it best i could and re fitted to vehicle.

I took it on a 20 mile trip down the motorway, but the lights remained on at all times. On my way bag and upon exiting the motorway i had to stop at some lights where i turned off the engine and re started the car. THe glow plug light had gone off, i took it down a dual carraige way for another mile and back to a layby, after two more stops all the lights went off. My partner who normally drives the car has taken it for a test drive and says it drives better than ever.

As i said ealier i wouldn t ave done it if i hadnt seen posts from others who had done the same and reported back after a few months with no return of the fault. In the end its cost me my time, access to a presher washer and about 5-10 litres of neat detergent. Fingers crossed no more faults for us

Hope this helps you

Well done!

No doubt some leaf-muncher will be along soon to berate you for putting all those nasty filtered thingies back into the environment by hosing the thing out though.....

My DPF clogged permanently after 180,000 miles/5 years, so I had a garage remove it and smash the innards out and refit (so no welds) and had the ECU re-flashed elsewhere. This is on a Audi A8 3.0 Tdi eng. code ASB. The car has never run so well. It feels like a 4.0 litre now in comparison.
