Sicilian driving attitudes - barney100

The guide on a Sicilian tour described the local attitude to driving. If there is some one you want a word with you simply stop regardless of holding up everyone behind and have your conversation, nobody objects as they all do it.Traffic light are obeyed at most times but if the road is clear then you just go....apparently the police don't bother about it at all. in the event of a minor bump in 80% of cases you simply swop addresses and the guilty party arranges the repair somewhere of his choosing.....insurance firms are seldom contacted. The worst driving I saw around Europe was in England..................................................

Sicilian driving attitudes - unthrottled

Accident rates do not support this assertion. That said, we Brits do like to make a meal out of an accident.

My family have always tried to settle privately-and the cost of the repairs were of the order of a few hundred pounds.

the one insurance claim made against us resulted in a £2000 claim-in spite of there being no visible damage to either car! Go figure.
