P0300 - Misfire Detected at Low Fuel Level
(0B) - Present

can anybody throw some light on this

vectra b 1,6 16v z16xe - fault code p0300 - Peter D

Change the fuel filter, however I fear this may be a failing fuel pump. Regards Peter

thanks for your quick reply peter.

The fuel filter and pump are about the only 2 thing i've not changed...lol

In the last week she has had new plugs, coilpack, throttle body taken off and given a good clean and the egr valve blanked off. I bought the opcoms diagnostics tool and cleared a load of old codes, took the car round the block and had 166 misfires and the code 0300, if that helps.

I will get a new filter tomorrow and see if that helps, if not then its a new pump and that will be another 2 things struck of the list. Thx

Why blank off the EGR? It doesn't cause the same problems as it can on diesels and it might throw up new error codes.

hi unthrottled, I took egr off and tested it and it was stuck open thats the reason m8.

I just unplugged all sensors and plugged them all back making sure they were all secure, took the car out for a 15 minute drive and it ran not bad but not 100% but alot better than it was, It still felt a bit rough when idling.

There was a sort of screaching noise not that loud but loud enough to just hear above engine coming from the throttle body, could this be anything?

Thx for your input m8 all helpis most appreciated

just a quick update,

I was looking at the opcom readings i took this morning when car was very rough, and comparing them with the reading i got tonight when car was not to bad. I was looking at tyhe fuel readouts and seen some diffrences. One that did catch my eye was the fuel tank ventilation valve, when the car was running very rough this morning the valve was reading inactive, and tonight when it was not to bad it was reading active.

qucick update, I had the purge valve thingy off gave it best of a clean that i could, took the car to go get a fuel filter (fitting tomorrow) and every thing seemed fine, but no. It started running rough again after about 2-3 minutes and ran rough the rest of the journey which took about 20mins. When i got back to the car it started fine, ticked over fine and drove fine for the first 2-3 mins then ran rough again all the way back home, got home turned it off, started it up again and it was fine, took it round the block and it ran fine for another 2 mins then started rough again
Any body got any ideas?

just had car out again and done the same again, if i clutch and free wheel then start engine again it runs fine for a couple of minutes then goes back to running rough.
