I recently purchased (used) a Dec 2010 Renault Clio Sport Tourer diesel.
I notice that after filling with fuel, there is a drip of fuel from under the bodywork behind the rear wheel arch. I have never spilled fuel on to the bodywork, but there may have been drips or froth which would have gone down the little drain hole which is located within the recess in which the fuel filler is located.
Is this drain meant to take the fuel back into the tank, or does this allow the small amount of fuel which may be spilled to leak out on to the road? If it is meant to drain it back into the tank, it may either be leaking or not working; or of course there may be a slight leak somehere around the filler pipe itself. Once the car has run just a few miles, the leak stops. The total amount leaking is probably pretty small, but visible drips can be seen. I was first alerted to it by an oil bloom on the wet tarmac of my driveway where the car is usually parked.
