We bought the car from a main dealer with full service history. Soon after purchse we experinced flat spots on acceleration and losing power at high speed. Several times limped home on safe mode. Dealer diagnosed faulty coil, duly replaced. Fault reoccurred. Then diagnosed faulty ECU. Again replaced. Fault reoccurred.
Eventually after several more recoveries dealer offered to keep car for a few days and let mechanic drive home. No fault first few times. After 3 days fault appeared.
Eventually traced to charcoal breather filter breaking up and bits of charcoal throughout fuel system. System drained, fuel pump cleaned no problems since.
Should this filter be a service item and regularly replaced?
